With the end of England\u2019s second national lockdown at the start of December, and the return of a tiered system of restrictions, the government announced that team sports are allowed to resume outdoors in all tiers.<\/p>\n

So, if you\u2019re getting ready to return to the netball court, what do you need to know to ensure you\u2019re following the latest guidance?<\/p>\n

England Netball<\/a> shared some advice, noting that in Tier 3 outdoor training sessions can take place but that any close contact activity must last for a maximum of 40 minutes. As a result, the organisation is recommending that small-sided games and match play should not exceed this limit.<\/p>\n

Social distancing when not on court or participating in a netball activity (which could include your training) is required, and it\u2019s important to use the Covid-19 rule modifications.<\/p>\n

You can find full details of the rule modifications<\/a> on the England Netball site, but they include that the defending distance has been increased from three feet to four feet, that toss ups are not permitted and that all players position themselves a minimum of four feet away from opposing players and their own teammates when a game begins.<\/p>\n

As you would expect, you\u2019re required to have a risk assessment in place for any netball training or matches you\u2019re involved in.<\/p>\n

Those who are in Tier 1 and 2 areas are also recommended to avoid travelling to Tier 3 areas for either training or match play.<\/p>\n
