Sporting charity The Women\u2019s Sport Trust has gathered together 35 elite female athletes, including netball stars Kadeen Corbin and Stacey Francis, as part of a drive for greater diversity in sport. The Netball England<\/a> website reports that the Unlocked programme, which promotes change across the sporting community, is now in its second year.<\/p>\n

The group of professional athletes are drawn from 27 different sports including netball. They aim to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities that exist within women\u2019s sport, from the perspective of those who currently compete at an elite level.<\/p>\n

Tammy Parlour MBE, CEO and Co-Founder of The Women\u2019s Sport Trust<\/a> said: \u201cIt has been a challenging year for many, but as we come out of COVID-19, there is no better time to turbo-charge our effort and continue to unlock the value of women\u2019s sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the best way to do this is by supporting these elite women and connecting them together. Individually they are strong advocates for change but together they are unstoppable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the activities planned for the Unlocked programme are workshops, mentorships, virtual hangouts, webinars, and networking opportunities. The Women\u2019s Sport Trust have aimed to bring together experts from across the sports, media and business sectors, who will share their insider knowledge and provide support and inspiration.<\/p>\n

The Unlocked athletes were selected from across the women\u2019s sporting world, with a diverse range of backgrounds, achievement levels, and interests. They include both Olympic and Paralympic athletes. England Netball Ambassador and Saracens Mavericks captain Sasha Corbin took part in last year\u2019s programme.<\/p>\n

Sascha also took part in a programme for the Youth Sport Trust<\/a> earlier this year, running online sessions to support children to keep developing their sporting skills during lockdown. The lessons aimed to keep children physically active, as well as nurturing a sense of friendship, inclusion, and fair play.<\/p>\n
