There\u2019s always a lot in the news about childhood obesity, but new research has revealed that there are other reasons you should consider getting your kids to attend <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sistersnsport.com\/\">Wandsworth netball lessons<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>A study in the US recently found that children who play sports when they\u2019re younger and through their adolescent years have stronger bones as adults than those who don\u2019t, <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/health\/study-children-who-do-sports-have-healthier-bones-as-adults\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">News4Jax<\/a><\/u> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers also pointed out that the ability level of the children didn\u2019t matter, it is all about participation.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers followed 948 children from the ages of five to 17, and reported that those who consistently participated in sports had a better bone mass at the age of 20 than those who either didn\u2019t do any sporting activity, or who started and then dropped out.<\/p>\n<p>Abby Abelson, M.D. of Cleveland Clinic who wasn\u2019t involved in the study, told the news provider that we build most of our bone in our younger years, but reach peak bone mass in our late 20s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat people do in childhood and adolescence, and early adulthood, is really building a bone bank, so we have to pay particular attention to the things that we do when we\u2019re young,\u201d she asserted.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after another US-based study found that parents shouldn\u2019t only rely on organised sport to make their children reach recommended activity levels each day. <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/health\/article\/organised-sports-not-enough-to-keep-kids-physically-fit-study\/359130\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Times Now News<\/a><\/u> revealed that the research indicated that often organised sports sessions lasting an hour typically provide around 20 to 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise.<\/p>\n<p>That means youngsters could be falling short on their target of an hour of moderate exercise each day if they\u2019re not also engaging in other activities and active play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all know that it\u2019s [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btn btn-secondary understrap-read-more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/sistersnsport.com\/coaching\/2019\/02\/19\/children-play-sports-healthier-bones\/\">Read More&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":9640,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[10],"tags":[18],"class_list":["post-9639","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sisters-n-sport","tag-wandsworth-netball-lessons"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Children Who Play Sports \u2018Have Healthier Bones\u2019 | Sisters n Sport<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"A recent study found that children who play sports when they\u2019re younger have stronger bones as adults than those who don\u2019t.
