What Should You Wear For Indoor Netball Sessions In Winter?

As the colder months settle in, many families start wondering what their children should wear for indoor netball sessions. Even though training takes place inside, players still need the right layers, footwear and accessories to stay warm.

Here’s a simple guide to netball training kit that will help young players feel their best this winter.

Staying warm before and after training

Even though the action happens indoors, winter can make the journey to and from netball training chilly. The key is layering. A light hoodie, fleece or long-sleeved top over a training T-shirt helps keep muscles warm before play

Once a session starts, players can peel off layers easily and stay comfortable without overheating.

Choosing the right indoor kit

For the actual session, comfort and movement are the priority. A breathable T-shirt, sports leggings, shorts, or a skort all work well for indoor netball. Most clubs allow players to mix and match depending on what they enjoy wearing.

Avoid heavy fabrics, as they can trap heat once you begin running and changing direction quickly. Instead, look for lightweight materials that stretch and allow freedom of movement for passing, pivoting and jumping.

The importance of good trainers

Indoor netball involves quick footwork, stopping, starting and changing direction. Wearing the right trainers helps reduce slips and provides support for growing ankles.

Ideally, choose non-marking indoor trainers with good grip and cushioning. They don’t need to be expensive; they just need to feel secure and supportive.

Helpful extra accessories

A reusable water bottle is essential to keep players hydrated throughout the session. Some players also like wearing light knee pads or ankle supports, especially if they’re new and still developing technique.

Hair should be tied back with soft bands to prevent distraction and improve visibility while keeping things safe.
