Sky Sports Debates Impact Of COVID-19 On Women’s Sport

Satellite TV Service provider Sky has announced they will be airing a new debate show on Sky Sports, ‘Cancelled: Women’s sport & the impact of COVID-19’, which will look at why and how women’s sport has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The show, to be aired on Wednesday 12 August at 8 pm, will be hosted by sports presenter and journalist Caroline Baker, and will analyse how the trajectory of women’s sport has been impacted, and whether the enforced break has provided new opportunities and what the next steps are for sport in general.

Joining Caroline in the debate will be Ebony Rainford-Brent, Director of Women’s Cricket at Surrey CCC, Chelsea Ladies manager Emma Haynes, Joanna Coates, UK Athletics chief executive, Tammy Parlour co-founder of Women’s Sport Trust and Scotland netball head coach, Tasmin Greenway.

Viewers are being urged to submit their questions and opinions ahead of the broadcast, using #WomensSportDebate on their social media channels, and the panel will be answering and giving insight into the submitted questions and topics.

After the show, there will be an extra hour of live reaction, Women’s Sport Debate: Live Reaction’ which will be presented by Hannah Wilkes, and leading athletes in sport will dig deeper into the issues, as well as answering further questions from viewers.

Featuring on the live reaction show will be Angela Ruggiero, the four-time Olympian, World Rugby board member and co-founder of the Sports Innovation Lab, Benny Bonsu, the first female sports editor in the UK, and Sue Anstiss MBE, a founding Trustee of the Women’s Sport and manging director of Fearless Women Ltd.

Both the shows will be available to watch on the Sky Sports Main Event, Action and Mix, and also streamed live on the Sky Sports YouTube channel.
