The Official Governing Body for Netball Has Launched a New App

The official governing body for netball has launched a new app to help anyone interested in the growing sport to understand how it is played and the joy of the sport.

The International Netball Federation (INF) created the iOS and Android app to open up the sport of netball as part of its digital strategy, and contains all the information needed to play the game professionally, according to their press release.

As well as the rules for how the sport is played in standard and Fast5 matches, the app contains information about netball hoodies and other apparel, diagrams of the court, the ball and umpire hand signals, as well as the latest news about the sport at an international level.

The INF also plans to include video integration, allowing clips and videos about the rules to be included in the app.

Technology In Sport

The app is an example of the adoption of technology in sports that helps to introduce the game to new fans and bring people into the sport. This is not only good at the professional level but also helps at a grassroots level to encourage the next generation of talent.

Netball, in particular, has had a major grassroots tradition, particularly in Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa, and so any evolution and growth of the sport will come from people who grow up playing and loving the sport and working their way up.
