National Schools Cup Finals Take Place

The finals of the National Schools Netball competition took place at Oundle School in Northamptonshire on March 13. Teams competed for a place in the Under 14s, Under 16s, and Under 19s categories, with victories for Putney High, Redmaids’ High School, and Berkhamsted respectively.

A total of 18 school teams made it through the county and regional rounds of the competition to battle out the final stages, England Netball reports. The National Schools Competition is one of the largest and most prestigious events for young netball players in the UK.

It involves about 1,500 teams across the country in the initial stages, across three age groups of under 14, under 16, and under 19. It is seen as a vital part of encouraging interest and participation in the sport of netball to the highest standards. The huge annual competition is organised in partnership with The British Army.

Netball is an excellent sport for developing all round physical fitness, suppleness and strength. It also provides opportunities for young players to develop good teamwork skills, meet new people and make new friends. These are valuable lessons to learn as a teenager, and can help them in other walks of life such as getting their first job.

At its core, netball is a team sport, but each individual player has different strengths and abilities that they learn to make the most of on court. This can help a young person to discover more about their personal qualities and to become more self confident and assertive in other areas of their lives.

Of course, above all, netball is a lot of fun and can contribute to a happy and healthy well-balanced outlook on life. If you are interested in Elmbridge netball classes, please get in touch with us today
