Funmi Fadoju Named As A Player To Watch In 2023

Young netball player Funmi Fadoju has been named as a rising star to watch in 2023. The Independent newspaper included Funmi in a recent feature about 10 sporting stars to look out for across a range of disciplines. 2023 is set to be a bumper year for sport, with a several world championships taking place.

This is especially true for the England Netball Team, as Funmi will be part of the squad who will make a bid for World Cup success in South Africa in 2023. The player has already starred in the recent competitions in Australia and Uganda and is said to be at the top of her game.

The London Pulse player has already been named as Vitality Netball Superleague Young Player of the Year twice in a row, and took part in her first full time Vitality Roses programme this year at the age of 20.

Funmi recently told the Glasgow Times: “I just want to go out there and have fun. Be a little bit fearless, you know, not be afraid to go for that interception or go for that fly. Sometimes I’m a little frantic, maybe a little too much, maybe I’m not as tactical as the other girls.”

She added: “I’d like to go out there and do everything that I can. And that’s one of the things I put into the squad, like you don’t expect it, but I just do it. If it works, awesome and if it doesn’t, I can still try again.”

Funmi also said she enjoyed the sense of team spirit that playing netball gave her, and that she enjoyed learning from others and passing on her knowledge to the newer members of the team.
