The October half-term is fast approaching, which means parents need to think of different activities to keep their little ones entertained while they are off school.
Although the cold weather makes it tempting to stay inside, it is really important that children stay active over the break so they can release their energy, retain their fitness levels and stay healthy.
Here are some things you can do with your youngsters to get them moving over the holiday.
-
Enrol in a sports club
Keep your children entertained and active while also being able to catch up with work by enrolling them in a football, gymnastics or netball camp near you.
They will spend hours doing what they love most, and at the same time keep their heart rate high, create lasting friendships, and learn how to work well in a team.
-
Indoor play centres
Though most parents shudder at the idea of indoor play centres during the school holidays, they are great for getting kids moving and having fun.
You can choose from a huge variety of places these days, from ones with trampolines or bouncy inflatables to climbing walls or soft play units for younger children.
-
Get splashing outdoors
Although the weather might not be warm and dry in autumn, this doesn’t mean you can’t head outdoors. Simply wrap up, put some wellies and a cagoule on and take them outside.
You could go on a long autumn walk, enjoy a family bike ride, or even try a new activity like horse riding.
Once they have gotten over the feeling of being a bit wet and cold, they will love spending time with you being active outdoors.
Nature in autumn really comes to life, so why not enjoy it while staying fit and healthy at the same time?
